Gary Provost

The 2008 Hood To Coast Relay will represent Gary’s ninth straight year as captain (and participant) of a relay team with the same core group of friends. The team has been increasingly competitive in the last four years in several relays across the country:

  • The Providian Relay: 3rd overall/1st in category (2003)
  • Colorado Relay: 6th overall/4th in category (2004)
  • Reach the Beach: 7th overall/1st in category (2005)
  • Hood To Coast: 17th overall/4th in category (2006)
  • Hood To Coast: 20thth overall/3rd in category (2007)

Gary has completed two marathons. His personal best was 3:17:54 in the 2005 Tucson Marathon.

Ted Danielson

One of three team members to participate in all seven relays to date, Ted is an active runner in several local races in the Denver area. Ted has completed seven marathons including Boston, Chicago, and New York. Ted’s marathon personal best came of 2:50 came at the 2007 California International Marathon. Ted is one of three members of the team to participate in all seven relays in which the team has participated.

Richard Paradis

Richard has completed seven marathons in the last three years, including a 3:00:24 at Boston in 2005 and a 2:53:52 at California International this past December. Richard often trains and competes in many local running races year round as well as snowshoe races in the winter.

Derek Kraus

After completing college as 3 time all-conference football player at Montana Tech, Derek began running and cycling competitively. In 2003, Derek finished 69th overall and 11th in his age group with a finishing time of 2:50:30. Since then, Derek has focused on competing in triathlons and from 2005 – 2007 has been ranked in Colorado’s top 50 amateur tri-athletes for his age group.

Hank Pool

Hank is a competitive tri-athlete having completed several races, including the 2006 Vineman Half-Ironman. Hank has completed several marathons, including a PR of 3:01:39 at Chicago in 2006.

Steve Bonifer

A standout runner at Liberty High School in Colorado Springs, Steve ran for Montana State and Upper Iowa University in the early 90s. After suffering an injury in a bike accident, Steve bounced back to set several school records a UIU. Steve finished 5th overall in the 2001 Steamboat Marathon.

Chris Bow

As 1990 graduate of the Air Force Academy and a 17 year veteran of the Air Force and Air National Guard, Chris has participated in races – official and unofficial throughout the world. Chris served our country during four tours in Afghanistan and Iraq between 2001 and 2004. Chris notes the completion of the Marine Corp Marathon with a broken arm and finishing a 50-mile ultra race in the Tucson desert among his running career highlights. Chris is now a commercial airline pilot for Southwest airlines.

Erik Zeitlow

A native Coloradan, Erik has been running all his life. Erik has run several marathons including an exact 3:00:00 marathon at Twin Cities, an 8th place overall finish at Ft. Collins Old Town and a top 10 finish at the Great Wall of China. His PR of 2:54:47 came in 2003 at Tucson. Erik also dabbles in ultra competitions including “doubling” at Pikes Peak in 2004, completing both the Ascent and marathon races in the same weekend.

Justin McMillan

A competitive runner since, Justin was an all-state 800 runner in high school. He continued his career Montana State University focusing on the 800, but also participated in XC as well. Justin has impressive PRs in the 5k and 10k at 15:21 and 31:53, respectively. Justin has recently turned his focus towards marathon training. He has completed three marathons to date, including a 6th overall finish at Helena in 2004 and a PR of 2:40:56 (7th overall) at Tucson in 2005.

Hans Bakker

Hans ran competitively at Colorado State University in the late nineties. He is an avid racer and his wife is one of the primary organizers of the Wild West Relay from Ft. Collins to Steamboat Springs. Hans has completed several marathons and half marathons, including a PR of 2:52:22 at Portland in 2004 and 1:15:35 at Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon in ‘04. Most recent races include ‘09 Austin Marathon, 24th overall 2:53:08.

Clint Boston

Clint is a native Coloradoan having run since grade school. Clint ran for the US Army 5th Corp (Europe) Cross Country Team from 1986 to 1988 (finishing eighth in the European Championships 1987). He has run several marathons with a PR of 2:59:35 at L.A. qualifying for Boston and in 2008. He currently coaches High School (Green Mountain Track and Cross Country, having been named Jefferson County Track Coach of the Year in 1999, 2000 2006, 2008 and 2009).

Steve Krebs

Steve is a veteran marathoner having run well over 40 marathons. A native Coloradoan Steve ran for Wheat Ridge High School and Colorado State University. Some of Steve’s current accomplishments would include running all of the Boulder Backroads Marathons (finishing 1st in the Masters Division in 2004, 05 and 06). He has also finished 2nd at the Colfax Marathon in 2006 and finished 1st in 2007. This past January he ran 2:51:51 in the L.A. Marathon.
