This weekend, Gary jumped in a little 10 miler and pulled off a spectacular run to take down the 35-39 age group championship. It was a very solid performance. He came through the first half of the race in about 33:30 (6:42). The course up to this point was all on a windy(meandering not moving air windy) trail that paralleled the S Platte River as it flows into Chatfield Reservoir. The eventually overall female champion was right on his heels. At this point she passed him. For the next 2 miles or so, Gary’s mind wandered as he tailed what had to be the greatest ass on earth. After refocusing, the second half was on a pretty chewed up horse trail that followed a course of a series rolling hills that looped back around to the start. The second half was run in just under 36 minutes.
