Colfax Marathon

Posted Mon, May 19th, 2008 @ 11:05:46

So I was totally amazed and gratified about the (number) of the Altitude Adjusted crew (and Ray; “you idiot”) that turned out to cheer us on…….totally groovey! Every time I was getting ready to putz for awhile someone popped up and fed the Zen! Course was really tough, hardest one of my last 5 marathons and the heat did not help. Ran a good 4+ minutes faster than last year but fell 2 spots….regardless winning $$$ helps the post race discomfort to melt away. Dills “took” Dime’s dough!!!! (Dills and I took 2/3 of the total cash prizes for the men, the money was sponsored by the Prostate cancer Awareness Network” thus no dollars for the open race, just masters).
Thanks again, you guys (& gals) rock

[Reported By Steve Krebs]

Erik was running this race as a training run for an upcoming marathon and had planned on running steady 8 min miles/3:30 marathon pace, so he definitely ran better than expected.

Great Job you guys!

Mark hit up the duathlon this past weeked in Cherry Creek Resevoir and tore it up. Mark was the first non-elite entrant in the race and ran a pretty damn fast race. See Mark’s pictures from the race in the Photos section under ‘Montage’. Stay tuned for next weeks marathon results, Mark is hittin’ the Colfax marathon.

Parent Pathways 5K

Had a horrible race today. Had some technical difficulties. Ran in some flats that I hadn’t worn in awhile and last night had to put old shoestrings on from my trail shoes…Dumb b/c they were the rope kind, so when I got half mile into the race both shoes came untied. Two guys passed me, so had to sprint back to catch them. Then about a quarter mile later, one of my shoes came undone again. Out of breath by that time I retied it and just couldn’t catch back up to the leader. Caught the second guy at the end but wasn’t very happy. Oh well, still early in the season, probably shouldn’t be racing now anyway. Going to focus on my long runs the next few weekends. Hope everyone is doing well.

Official results to come, but my watch had an 18:04. (I’m pretty sure I ran faster in the second 5k of the 10k last weekend)

Looks like the fellas were running together for the first half. Richard said everything felt smooth until about 16 when he felt a burning in his leg, which was diagnosed at the end of the race by some doctors as a nerve irritation. Nothing that will cause in damage over the next few months.

Richard Paradis 13 2/53 13/395 2:52:18 6:35 2:52:18 1:23:11

Very nicely done, guys. A first for Krebs in his age division and a silver for Dime in his, not to mention 11th & 13th overall respectively.

Not to be outdone, Hans finished the 10k earlier that morning. And as the results show, Hans is in very poor shape. I don’t think that the “oh, I’m in horrible shape” line is very believable anymore, Hans

Very nice run. Especially since you are just beginning your training for HTC and you are so out of shape. Notice that Hans not only took 3rd in his age group, he took 3rd overall.

Just great stuff and we are still over 3 and a half months out.

Couldn’t find the results but it has been reported that an HTC member ran a 17:07. That man being Krebs. Not only is he in 2:48 marathon shape he can bust out 5:31 for 5k. That is a great indicator of things to come for August.

Finally the results and Krebs does it once again:

15. Steve Krebs M45 2:48:15 6:25

So he took 15th overall 2nd in Masters and 7th in the Professional/Elite races. This man can pump out 2:48s in his sleep. And I bet you he got up early on Sunday and ran an easy 10 miler through some state park.

Very nice run Steve.
