Anybody interested in having our own “Altitude Adjusted” version of the "Boston Prep 16 Miler" on Sunday, January 24, 2010.  This would be a good time to get the crew together to see where we are in our training.

October Results

Posted Tue, November 10th, 2009 @ 11:11:31

nullFirst off, congratulations to Erik Zeitlow for a great month of marathon racing. Erik found time to squeeze in two marathons in the month of October. Just weeks after running the Ultra relay legs in the Colorado Relay, Erik ran the Blue Sky Trail Marathon in Fort Collins on October 4th. I was there to give him some support on that chilly Sunday morning. I watched as he moved his way up and passed several runners. For those familiar with the Blue Sky trail that runs between Loveland, Co and Fort Collins you know that this isn’t the easiest trail to run on let alone race. It has many hills and loose shale which you can easily loose your footing on. I believe at one point in the race he did just that and took a spill. This didn’t stop him from taking 7th overall and finishing in a little over 4 hours. Pretty respectable considering the course was long and 7 of the top 10 all had times between 4 and 4 1/2 hours.

While the rest of us were getting ready for Halloween and filling our bellies with peanut butter cups Erik took a family vacation to the Hoover Damn to partake in the Hoover Damn Marathon on 10/31. According to the race director, this is becoming one of the Nation’s “Must Do” races. It is ran on 100% on paved and packed dirt trails completely removed from vehicular traffic. It traverses the Mojave Desert runs through historic railroad tunnels and allows for sweet views of Lake Mead. He must have felt very recovered because he dominated the field and took 2nd OVERALL! His chip time was 3:20:55. Way to go Erik!

Then there is Ted Danielson AKA “I’m going to go easy on this leg” (Ted also ran one of the Ultra legs in this years Colorado Relay. On one of his legs I believe it was an 11 miler, he ran 6:00 min miles). He ran the Half Marathon in this year’s Denver Marathon on October 18th and finished in 1:24:14 and finished 4th in his age group. Great Job Ted.

Both Ted and Erik will be competing in 2010 Boston Marathon along with a group of other Altitude Adjusted runners.

I also want to give props to Clint Boston who was once again named “Coach of the Year”. Clint is the Cross Country Coach at Green Mountain High School.

Even though it is still a week out, I’m getting excited. Gary is running down in Phoenix this weekend to get that Boston Qualifier. He has put in the mileage, the appropriate workouts and has dropped the Ted mandated 10+ pounds. Gary you are ready for a huge PR and the well deserved BQ. Also, there is tracking for this race so we can follow our Capitan through the race. click here to view website

Good luck, my man!
