Tue, January 8th, 2008Under treacherous conditions Richard did a 20 mile snowshoe race up in
the mountains.

Per the race director:
“Weather had a huge impact on the run. Heavy snowfall, low clouds, and
flat light conditions resulted in extremely limited visibility just 2
miles into the run. The lead snowshoers could not see any land, markers,
or a snowshoe track set down just before the race. This caused them to
get disoriented on the ice crossing the middle of the lake, and they
went off course. It was extremely difficult for them move in a straight
line across the lake ice for over 1.5 miles without any visual cues.
When they did finally locate land, they headed toward it, with just
about everyone else following their tracks.”
